Welcome Hillsborough Medical Practice
With patient’s needs at the heart of everything we do, our website has been designed to make it easy for you to gain instant access to the information you need.
As well as specific practice details such as opening hours and how to register, you’ll find a wealth of useful pages covering a wide range of health issues along with links to other relevant medical organisations.
ROUTINE GP APPOINTMENTS
Due to the practice experience high levels of missed appointments we have change the way in which we release our routine GP appointments. Going forward routine appointments will be released at 2pm daily and will only be bookable 2 weeks ahead. We appreciate that this is a big change to the practice but would ask our patients to kindly understand that the practice cannot continue to have almost 200 missed GP appointments per month and for appointments to be fully booked 7 weeks in advance. We hope our new service will offer more flexibility and efficiency as routine appointments will be available to book daily.
Retirement of our Practice Manager, Cathy Pielou
After over 20 years with the practice, Cathy has retired! Cathy has dedicated many years to making Hillsborough Medical Practice the successful practice that it is! Enjoy your retirement!
New Practice Manager and Finance Manager
We are delighted to introduce our new Practice Manager, Rachael and our new Finance Manager, Donna to their new roles! They look forward to continue to enhance the practice and hear our patients feedback.
Due to growing pressures, from February 2019 the reception team can only except phonecalls regarding urgent appointments from 8.30am - 9.30am. The Doctor will ring the patient back and offer them an urgent appointment for the morning ahead. The patient must be available to see the GP on the day that they contact the practice.
Only calls regarding medical emergencies will be excepted after 9.30am.
We appreciate your co-operation with this.
Due to pressure on appointments, please not that each Doctors appointment is only 10 minutes long. If you have multiple issues to discuss, please arrange a double appointment or be prepared for the Doctor to suggest a follow up appointment. Many thanks for your co-operation.
We hope you enjoy having a look around the site and familiarising yourself with some of the online features such as ordering a repeat prescription. Whatever your thoughts, be sure to let us know via our feedback function. Comments and suggestions are always a great way of helping us continue to enhance the way we look after you.
The building has been designed for disabled access, but if you have any difficulty moving around the building please let one of the staff know and they will be happy to help. We have a loop system at the front desk for patients who are hard of hearing, and a wheelchair for use in the health centre.#
Do you really need a prescription for over the counter medicines?
Did you know that you can buy paracetamol for approximately 50p. Roughly it costs the NHS £35 for each prescription for paracetamol. When required for short-term minor illnesses, it is better for the health service if you buy these medicines without a prescription. Talk to your local pharmacist if you need some advice. You don’t need an appointment! Please help us to make the best use of our health service. Please click below for more information.
